FAQ

Wall Mounting VS Roof Mounting — Which Is Better?

Both wall-mounted and roof-mounted awnings are valid options, but the choice depends on vehicle type, clearance, and intended use.

  • Wall Mounting – The awning attaches directly to the side wall of the vehicle.
    • Most common for motorhomes and caravans.
    • Easy to install and maintain.
    • Provides stable support with standard brackets.
    • Ideal if you want the awning close to windows or doors for optimal shade and convenience.
  • Roof Mounting – The awning attaches above the roofline using roof rails or crossbars.
    • Suitable for vans or vehicles where wall mounting is obstructed.
    • Allows for additional clearance underneath, making setup flexible for taller side access or furniture.
    • Be mindful of roof-mounted accessories (air conditioners, solar panels, luggage racks) — the awning must not interfere with existing equipment.

Tips for choosing:

  • Measure the available wall or roof surface to ensure proper fit.
  • Consider how much shade coverage you need — roof mount may extend further in some configurations.
  • Check your vehicle’s structural capacity — roof mounts may require reinforced brackets.

By evaluating these factors, you can select the mounting style that maximizes shade, safety, and convenience for your specific vehicle.

Optimal Awning Installation Position?
  • Maximize Shading: Place the awning in areas exposed to direct sunlight, such as above windows, doors, or the edge of a patio, to ensure effective shade.
  • Optimize Space: Consider the layout and flow of your outdoor area so the awning doesn’t obstruct movement or access.
  • Ensure Structural Safety: Verify that the wall, roof, or mounting surface can safely support the awning’s weight and movement.
How to Adjust the Awning Angle?

Awnings are shipped with a default deployment angle: after full extension, the awning naturally droops about 10°.

  • Recommended Angle: 5°–15° for optimal performance.
  • Adjustment: For custom angle adjustments, please contact us to request the instruction guide.

This ensures proper extension while maintaining stability and shading efficiency.

Are Installation Brackets Included?

Yes — All NATURE Awnings include standard mounting brackets.
